Taiyaki are traditional Japanese wafers with filling. “Taiyaki” translates to “baked sea bream”. Taiyaki is made using regular pancake or waffle batter. The batter is poured into a fish-shaped mold for each side. It is then cooked on both sides until golden brown.
Traditionally, taiyaki are filled with sweet azuki bean paste, however, in these modern days you can find taiyaki filled with ice cream, custard, berries, chocolate, cheese, meat or even okonomiyaki.
